Paint Codes

Lower Door Trim Paint

Submitted by: Allen Ward on 02/13/06

The color of your door is determined by the fender tag under the word "PAINT". Under the PAI is the body color code, N is the roof stripe code and T is your inner door paint. Some cars had the entire door body color, most had it the interior color. My 66 is SS1 Cream with Black interior. The paint code is SS1BB. The "BB" means Black roof stripe and black inner door paint. my other 66 is GG1WW for GG1 Dark Green Poly, White Roof Stripe and White Inner Door Paint. (since the interior is white)

Here is the breakdown of the inner door paint codes (under the T in PAINT)

B = Black (66 & 67)
C = Light Blue (67)
D = Medium Blue (66 & 67)
E = Dark Blue (66 & 67)
G = Green (67)
H = Tan (67)
K = Beige (67)
L = Dark Turquoise (67)
Q = Dark Red (66 & 67) S = Pewter (67)
T = Medium Copper (67)
W = White (66 & 67)
Y = Medium Gold (66 & 67)
Z = Gold (66 & 67)

Here are the codes for the roof stripe

B = Horizontal accent stripe BLACK (66 & 67)
C = Horizontal accent stripe BLUE (66 & 67)
D = Horizontal accent stripe MED. BLUE (66)
E = Horizontal accent stripe DARK BLUE (66)
H = Horizontal accent stripe RED (66 & 67)
J = Horizontal accent stripe TAN (66)
M = Horizontal accent stripe CHESTNUT (66)
Q = Horizontal accent stripe MED. RED (66)
S = Horizontal accent stripe CREAM (66)
S = Horizontal accent stripe COPPER (67)
W = Horizontal accent stripe WHITE (66 & 67)
Y = Horizontal accent stripe MED. TAN (67)
1 = Horizontal Sport BLACK (66 & 67)
8 = stripe delete (66 & 67)

And, if you do not have a fender tag, it's a safe bet they should be white to match the interior.
